Gena has been a certified k-12 art educator for over 20 years, she is certified in Advanced Placement Studio Art and has taught drawing and design courses at the Savannah College of Art & Design. Gena was awarded a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Art Education from Valdosta State University and a Masters of Fine Arts in Painting from the Savannah College of Art & Design.
